The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is seen to begin to support multitouch by hackers.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 was a very controversial phone before its release to the public.
First of all nobody really knew what version would pick up the phone and Sony chose the Android 1.6 Android 2.1 version of the moment. It had a lot of unhappy and even stopped the urge to buy it for many potential buyers. This problem is now resolved before the publication this week of the update.
This was not the only problem because the multitouch (previously unavailable on Android and supported the arrival of the Nexus One) was / is not officially supported by Sony Ericsson.
Users will perhaps see the end of the tunnel through which hackers were able to partially implement multitouch on this phone. Of course nothing is still functional and useable daily, but opens up.
Here is a first demonstration video with Angry Birds:
There is still work to be done before a possible use, but note the work of hackers who managed to unlock this feature on a phone who (normally) not have this capability.
If in the future this project became stable, it would surely more than an update on Android 2.2 to make all the owners of X10 Xperia happy!
